SOS Committee Thanks All Voters That Came Out and Supported Limiting the Rate of Government Spending
North Platte, NEToday Mike Groene, Chairman of Stop the Over Spending (SOS) and the Yes on 423 Coalition, thanked 423’s many supporters for helping give voters a voice on what government spends.
“We appreciate the efforts of our supporters, activists, voters, and donors who helped on this campaign,” said Mike Groene. “We were honored to have so many average Nebraskans fighting to limit the rate of spending.”
The 423 initiative attempted to limit the growth of government spending to the rate of inflation plus population growth. The initiative would not have resulted in any spending cuts or tax increases. Over the past 20 years, state spending has grown by 282% and just during the last ten years Nebraska has gone from being ranked the 14th highest in the nation for tax burden to 6th.
“We were completely out spent by our opponents and still managed to make a good showing. We hope that our elected officials will realize that our state has a spending problem not a revenue problem and that they will take corrective action,” added Groene. |
